二七区综合实力。2018年，二七区地区生产总值完成658.8亿元，同比增长10.1%。其中第一产业增加值0.1亿元，同比下降5.8%；第二产业增加值114.6亿元，同比增长8.6%；其中全部工业增加值56.7亿元，同比增长6.0%；建筑业增加值57.9亿元，同比增长11.6%；第三产业增加值544.2亿元，同比增长10.5%，交通运输、仓储和邮政业增加值96.0亿元，同比增长4.9%；批发和零售业增加值85.5亿元，同比增长2.6%；住宿和餐饮业增加值28.9亿元，同比增长4.8%；金融业增加值121.1亿元，同比增长6.6%；房地产业增加值37.4亿元，同比增长2.7%；营利性服务业增加值102.5亿元，同比增长41.0%；非营利性服务业增加值72.7亿元，同比增长3.4%。人均生产总值达到80360元。三次产业结构由2017年0.1:17.2:82.7调整为0.1:17.3:82.6。
二七区历史文化。二七区历史悠久、文化厚重。有汉代民居邓公寨、明代周悼王陵、清代民居“天井院”等众多历史遗迹；老奶奶庙旧石器时代遗址将中华文明探源向前推进了3万~5万年；铭功路出土的商代青釉瓷尊，把中国瓷器烧造史提前了1000多年；阎氏陶瓷、郑商瓷等瓷器已走出国门、走向世界。百年老街—德化步行街的“商文化”精神传承至今；二七纪念塔成为河南省零公里点标志；郑州烈士陵园等留下了浓郁的红色文化。截至2018年年底，全区有全国重点文物保护单位2处、河南省文物保护单位9处、郑州市文物保护单位18处、二七区文物保护单位12处。二七区作为八大古都之一的中心城区，作为全国唯一因纪念革命历史事件而命名的城区，红色文化、商业文化、都市文化等是其他区域不可比拟的历史优势、文化基因。二七纪念塔、二七纪念堂、“百年德化”、老奶奶庙遗址等标志性的文化元素，具有极大的文化挖掘潜力和价值。“百年德化”历史文化片区已列入郑州市“四大文化片区”。
二七区交通便利、通讯快捷。京广、陇海两条铁路大动脉在境内交汇，素有中国铁路“心脏”之称。区内有全国最大的铁路枢纽站——郑州火车站、河南省最大的汽车客运站——郑州客运中心站，中原地区最大的电力、电信、邮政枢纽位于辖区。郑少高速、郑尧高速、西南绕城高速穿境而过，城区距新郑国际机场仅30分钟车程。
二七区生态资源丰富。二七区生态和地貌资源丰富多样，15公里樱桃沟1466.6公顷葡萄园、400公顷尖岗水库水面、280公顷郑州树木园、33.33公顷南环公园、“四河两库一渠”及3333.33公顷的生态涵养林，让二七区在生态化的国家中心城市大格局中占有一席之地。近几年，二七区扎实推进“田园二七”建设，新增南水北调生态文化公园、生态廊道等绿化面积2067万平方米。建成区绿地率达到38.5%，绿化覆盖率达到44.3%，分别高于全市5.5和6.3个百分点；人均公共绿地14平方米，高出全市平均值2.8平方米。已培育出以烤鱼沟、梨园村、玉泉山庄为代表的特色休闲旅游农业，打造了“郑州樱桃节、葡萄节、浪漫赏花游、秋季采摘游”等一系列近郊旅游品牌。
二七区公共资源丰富、社会服务体系完善。拥有郑州大学、中国人民解放军防空兵指挥学院、郑州航空工业管理学院、中州大学、黄河科技学院、郑州卫校、郑州测绘学校等大、中专院校；有核工业部第五设计院、中国船舶重工集团七一三研究所等中央、省部级科研机构，有郑州大学第一附属医院、河南省妇幼保健院、河南武警总队医院、郑州市骨科医院等省、市级医院，金融、证券、通讯、餐饮、文化娱乐等商业服务设施齐全。
